I am thrilled to announce the successful completion of the "Ready, Set, Read" English project by our enthusiastic first grade students! As part of their exploration into the world of English literature, our young learners finished the project by reading a charming tale called "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale" by Mo Willems. This story was the perfect culmination of their recent topic on toys, capturing the hearts and imaginations of our young readers.
"Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale" follows the adventures of a toddler and her beloved stuffed bunny, Knuffle Bunny, as they journey through the bustling city and face unexpected challenges. The students were interested in the storyline and eagerly discussed the adventures of Trixie and her toy.
Throughout the lesson, our first graders not only enjoyed the narrative but also actively engaged in discussions about their own favourite toys. They shared stories, memories, and even drew pictures depicting their toys, inspired by the mishap of Knuffle Bunny stuck in the washing machine in the story. This hands-on approach not only enriched their understanding of the book but also encouraged creative expression.
At our school, we recognize the importance of reading in English as a foreign language. Reading picture books such as "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale" plays a vital role in expanding vocabulary, improving language proficiency, and fostering a love for reading at an early age.
We encourage parents to continue supporting their children's reading journey at home, as it is a cornerstone of academic success and personal growth.
We look forward to more exciting literary adventures ahead!
In the meantime, I wish you all a wonderful summer!
Warm regards,
Teacher Bojana
